Sund has been nominated the tourist municipality of year 2000 in Åland. Kastelholma castle, the remains of the Bomarsund fortress and the open-air museum Jan Karlsgården are important places to see. The municipality is located about 25 km from Mariehamn.
Sund is one of the 27 national sceneries in Finland
Hiking in Sund:
Prästö cultural path (5,5 km). The path starts from the Prästö pilotage hut and runs through old Russian graveyards and signal station. Marked cultural paths also in Bomarsund and Kasteholma.
Hiking route (15 km) between Kastelholma and Bomarsund connects two villages and cultural paths.

Eckerö has a long tradition in tourist business and an exciting and lively history as the meeting place of the Baltic Sea area as it is an important part of the old Postal Service Road. The impact of the Russian empire can be seen in the grand facade, which was designed to make an impression on Sweden. Many summer restaurants serve delicious food and offer a magnificent view. The winter landscape attracts travellers, fishermen and travellers on skates. Hunting is becoming more popular today in Åland and in Eckerö. Hotels, guest boat harbours and inns make their guests comfortable. Many cabin villages are open also in winter. Eckerö has challenging full-length golf courses both for competitors and leisure-time golfers.

There are many places to see on our island: the Käringsund fishing harbour with Åland's Museum of Hunting and Fishing, and next to it Vilthägnet game safaris. Eckerö Post and Customs House with the Postal Service Road Museum. The stone church of St. Lars, the local arts-and-crafts house Labbas. The Eckerö midsummer poles are an impressive sight. Visit also the yearly Eckerö market in Storby and the Postal Service Rowing over the Åland sea.

Suomussalmi's varied nature offers the traveller versatile ways of recreation. The Hossa camping area, the Martinselkonen preservation area and the Ylivuokki recreational area offer a nature lover a lot to do and experience.
Manmade hiking routes can be found all over the parish, and Hossa has excellent canoeing opportunities. During the winter there are mechanically tended ski tracks in the Haverinen Skiing Centre and Hossa. There are also ca. 350 km of tended motor sledge tracks in the municipality area. Vimpeli is situated on the eastern shore of "the Pearl of Ostrobothnia", Lake Lappajärvi. It is famous e.g. for its excellent Finnish baseball team which plays in the championship league from year to year.
Round church. Saarikenttä, covered Finnish baseball stadium on a river island in the centre of Vimpeli. Lakeaharju Ridge, caused by a meteorite, a lookout spot rising 100 m over Lake Lappajärvi. Downhill skiing centre Lakis in the area. Ski Factory Museum, Finnish baseball museum and a statue of a Finnish baseball player, Hundred-year-old lime kilns.

The largest cruiser on Lake Päijänne, m/s Rhea, and restaurant ship Gaia are located in the Jyväskylä harbour, in the immediate vicinity of the fair centre. Our ship has three non-smoking restaurants; the sundeck terrace, the delicious a la carte restaurant on the middle deck and the evening restaurant on the lower deck.
