Taipalsaari municipality - in the Saimaa archipelago. Taipalsaari is known for its great natural beauty and the abundance of waterways. Half of the acreage of the municipality consists of blue Saimaa and the other half consists of ca. 700 islands. The municipality has as much as 1008 kilometres of shoreline. The tar steamer, depicted in the Taipalsaari coat of arms, tells us about the times that the inland waterway traffic on Saimaa was an important employer in the area. Today Taipalsaari is a popular municipality to live or have a summer cottage in. Also the Saima ringed seal thrives there.
The Taipalsaari municipality will be hosting the 2012 Holiday Housing Fair 25.6.-8.7.2012. The place of the fair will be the Suuri Sarviniemi area in the middle of Lake Saimaa, there will be ca. 35 interesting exhibition objects.
