Kumlinge is a small but active municipality in the middle of an archipelago. The four main islands Kumlinge, Enklinge, Seglinge and Björkö have inhabitants throughout the year and each island has its own characteristics, the nature varies and the inhabitants give their villages their own peculiar characteristics. SOILE YLI-MÄYRY of Finland, a painter for more than 25 years, makes her paintings by using a palette knife. She uses paint in three ways: a thin, even coat, thick lines and by scraping lines into the painted area, for a three-dimensional look. The main theme in Yli-Mäyry’s work is humanity and people’s alienation from nature in the urban world.

Manmade hiking routes can be found all over the parish, and Hossa has excellent canoeing opportunities. During the winter there are mechanically tended ski tracks in the Haverinen Skiing Centre and Hossa. There are also ca. 350 km of tended motor sledge tracks in the municipality area.
